Job Summary:

The Rotary Test Engineer role at our Mocksville, North Carolina location provides support to our rotary value and airend value stream; the role reports directly to the plant rotary value stream The successful candidate must have an overwhelming desire to serve our customers and champion for world class delivery metrics in every aspect of their job. This role is responsible for providing technical expertise related to product testing for the centrifugal and rotary value streams. Along with this, providing process improvements to align with production supervision on test throughput and improve first pass yield.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure test lab equipment and layouts are documented and designed to meet production needs.
  • Develop, maintain, and train on all test lab software, hardware and analytical equipment. Review and improve testing related IT tools (eg Databases, computer equipment, etc.) and determine any necessary updates or modifications.
  • Develop and maintain all test lab related procedures to optimize throughput and efficiencies.
  • Ensure new product test cell compressor engineering data loaded and ETO data is loaded into lab software at release.
  • Provide guidance to test and production teams related to governmental and regulatory codes related to testing product.
  • Recommend and develop new test methods and techniques to optimize test cell throughput. Coordinate implementation of new test methods.
  • Ensure that accreditations are maintained and all requirements are met. Coordinate yearly reviews/audits.
  • Assist sales and engineering with penetrating new applications and customers, including benchmarking and translating voice of the customer information into new applications.
  • Improve first pass yield and throughput
  • Conduct independent research on the application of advanced materials and new testing technologies.
  • Ensures safety designed into all process and implements safety corrective actions required to eliminate safety risks.
  • Must be a self-starter with high initiative and able to work with little supervision.
  • Must work well with others in a team environment supporting operations team.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial or Mechanical engineering.
  • 5+ years experience in industrial equipment testing
  • Strong background in the following preferred: statistics, failure mode testing, electrical diagnosis and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with standard organizations such as ASME, ASTM, DOE, ISO, CE, UL
