The Chief APP will have direct management responsibility for APPs in the Charlotte market including recruiting, onboarding, HR system input, performance management and scheduling as well as shared clinical performance oversight with other APP leaders and collaborating physicians. Will work collaboratively with the department's leadership & internal teams (client leads, nursing, operations, etc) to establish and achieve shared goals and objectives as we work with our clients to keep people well and working. Has a servant leadership & growth mindset. Maintains infection control/safety standards and is committed to providing and promoting patient-centered communication and care. Functions as an advanced practice provider to provide appropriate patient care.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs initial and periodic medical history and physical exams
  • Records findings of exams, assessments and plan of care
  • Performs minor office-based procedures
  • Writes appropriate prescriptions and administers medications
  • Orders and interprets laboratory and radiology examinations
  • Determines treatment plan for patient
  • Documents all patient encounters, records observations, interventions and actions in a medically appropriate manner on the patient's medical record
  • Acts as a patient advocate for the population served
  • Serves as a role model/clinical resource in all aspects of job performance and human relations skills
  • Assesses own practice needs, as well as those of the other APPs of the health care team, and develops methods to meet those needs
  • Assists in the review and development of clinical and operational policies and procedures
  • Provides oversight for meeting quality metric goals & collaborates with quality team & clinical team for optimizing goal achievement
  • Coordinates recruiting, hiring and onboarding of APPs
  • Meets 1:1 monthly with direct reports to determine what is going well, discusses opportunities for improvement, provides coaching/mentorship when needed, supports professional development and initiates performance management when needed
  • Completes yearly reviews in partnership with collaborating physicians and assures compliance with all aspects of licensure and credentialing for direct report APPs
  • Coordinates APP schedules to also include arranging coverage for unplanned absences & shares after hours call coverage
  • Able to work in all Work/Campus Care locations
  • Attends, contributes to and represents APPs in the assigned areas of responsibility on group/practice, client, facility or system-wide committees and/or meetings
  • Is proficient with EPIC and HR related systems

Physical Requirements: Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment and supplies. Must speak English fluently and in understandable terms. Must possess intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch and finger dexterity. Must have the ability to react and perform in stressful situations.

Education, Experience and Certifications: Must have or be eligible for a DEA license. Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works. Five years of experience as an APP is required. Management/supervisory experience is preferred. Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in SC is required. BLS for Healthcare Providers from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice.

Nurse Practitioner: Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required (FNP board certification required for Work/Campus Care Solutions).

Physician Assistant: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required. Master's Degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.
